Web developers work with a wide variety of languages and tools to perform a spectrum of tasks from ensuring that websites are well-designed and usable to creating and implementing complex algorithms to perform complicated tasks to building games to be played within a web browser. Most web developers maintain a preference either for the front-end of websites – how sites look, how user-friendly and accessible they are, often with some overlap with the role of designers – or the back-end of websites – how sites interact with servers, clients and databases. A growing trend is for web developers to understand both sides, the full-stack, and be comfortable anywhere from concept through deployment and maintenance. The web development industry has undergone massive changes and advancements in recent years, and demand for web developers is expected to grow by almost 30% through the next ten years.
